How The JFK Library Media Center supports the IB
The JFK LMC has undergone many positive changes in recent years to support the development of the IB Philosophy.
The LMC has created multiple resources and links, one for the PYP teachers and students and the other for MYP and DP teachers and students.
The LMC facilitates, supports and guides in several ways:
-Developing Thinking, Research, Literacy and Communications skills
-Promoting Inquiry
-Developing of International Mindedness and the IB Learner Profile
-Understanding Academic Integrity
-Making connections to local and global contexts
-Offering conferences and advisory lessons to reinforce research skills
The LMC staff actively supports, promotes and collaborates with all school divisions. For example, the LMC plays an integral role in the Grade 5 Exhibition, the MYP Personal Project and the DP Extended Essay.
The LMC has adapted to the new normal and offers an online loan system that involves delivering books to each classroom, and supporting teaching and learning through an on-demand selection of resources.
Furthermore, the LMC aspires to create a balanced selection of resources that meets the needs of our diverse population. We created the World Languages "WL," which aims to support our international students with resources in their first language, and the "Cultural Bag," which helps teachers to show the cultural richness of our community.
